In honor of National Volunteer Week, we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible JA volunteers who went above and beyond for our students and schools this past year.
Choosing who to recognize wasn’t easy, but time and time again, these individuals and companies rose to the occasion. Whether jumping in at the last minute or leading with passion and purpose, they answered the call when JA students needed them most.
We’re beyond grateful for their unwavering commitment, and we’re proud to celebrate the true champions who make our mission possible.
TOP COMPANIES
BGE
BGE has gone above and beyond as a powerhouse partner by fueling student success through meaningful volunteerism and generous support. This year, they have brought multiple groups of volunteers to serve our students and continue to provide opportunities to make meaningful impact from the classroom and beyond.
As a proud storefront partner in both JA Finance Park and JA BizTown, BGE is creating immersive, real-world learning spaces where students can see their futures take shape. Their time, talent, and heart are helping JA kids build the confidence and skills to empower their future!
CAREFIRST
These Difference Makers exceeded all expectations this year with their commitment to community engagement. Initially planning to support one volunteer event per quarter, the CareFirst team quickly surpassed that goal by bringing volunteers to multiple JA Finance Park and JA BizTown days.
Currently, they are up to 285 volunteer hours with students this year—and they still have more volunteer days scheduled! A special thank you to Morgan Somerville, who has been a key player over the years in launching and growing our volunteer partnership, as well as the Finance team who led the way in coordinating this monumental charge taking it from a goal to an intention to benefit all JA kids.

ROSEDALE FEDERAL SAVINGS & LOAN ASSOCIATION
This school year, Rosedale Federal Savings & Loan Association has been a shining example of what it means to show up with heart, purpose, and a deep commitment to the next generation.
They supported students by stepping in when needed and even taking their volunteer days a step further! Led by the superstar coordinator and ever-enthusiastic Debbie Robson, the team rallied alongside her for upcoming JA BizTown days - even being there for the students as they campaign for mayor, give speeches, and cast their votes.
“It has been such a fun process for them and exciting for me to see what goes on behind the scenes," said Debbie.
TOP INDIVIDUALS
MONI OLOYEDE
As a long-time volunteer, Moni has gone above and beyond this year to support students by making a personal commitment to volunteer with JA at least once per month! She brings positivity, insight, and encouragement to every experience and truly enjoys helping students navigate real-world financial scenarios. If that wasn't enough, she’s also someone our team can count on in a pinch, stepping in to help when unexpected needs arise. For example, Moni filled in when our snow days wreaked havoc in Central Maryland coming to our aid when they rescheduled. Her flexibility, dedication, and passion for giving back make her a truly invaluable part of our JA volunteer community.
ROMAN LETER
Always ready to engage, educate, and uplift students, Roman has set the gold standard as a volunteer. For the past three years, he has been a consistent presence and inspiring force for JA BizTown and JA Finance Park students as a mentor and role model. He embodies the spirit of service and mentorship, touting an impressive 30+ volunteer days and is willing to lend a hand or jump in on short notice. We love his unwavering commitment and enthusiasm to drive JA's mission forward!
KELLY OLDS
Kelly has been a driving force in creating a new initiative with Baltimore County Public Schools and JA! Thanks to her leadership and hard work, high school students in the Teacher Academy of Maryland (TAM) program are leaving their mark in JA Finance Park and JA BizTown - and it is nothing short of inspiring! Through Kelly’s efforts, these future educators give back by mentoring local elementary and middle school students AND gain real-world experiences in a setting that aligns with their career goals. It’s a win-win that’s helping shape confident, compassionate leaders for tomorrow’s classrooms. This new partnership continues to champion volunteerism and open doors for the next generation.

Congratulations to all our winners for their tremendous service this past year! It is truly our honor to recognize these groups and individuals for their volunteerism and continued dedication to JA students, schools, and educators. We could not do this without their unwavering support - or yours - and for that we are thankful!
